BRISTOL & DISTRICT MEN'S BOWLS LEAGUE

Response to Corona virus Covid-19 pandemic

Sunday 7th June 2020

All,

Following on from my email to you all on 21st March, the League's management committee has further considered the most recent instructions of Public Health England and the UK Government in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, plus the additional guidance given by our governing body, Bowls England.

With some Club's remaining closed, others open with restrictions and the current limit on no more than six people being permitted to congregate in outdoor spaces it has, regrettably, been agreed to cancel the remaining league fixtures for this season.  However, as there is still some time until the amended dates for the Lloyd Trophy (R1 7th July, R2 21st July, R3 4th August, S/F 18th August, and Final 27th August) we shall give these further time before making any decision on them.

Say safe and stay healthy.

Saturday 21st March 2020

Member Clubs and players will be aware of the latest Government guidelines about self isolating and social distancing as a result of the Corona virus Covid-19 pandemic.

The League’s management committee has considered the edicts of Public Health England and the UK Government in relation to the pandemic, plus the statements made by our governing body, Bowls England.

Taking everything into consideration it has been agreed that the first half of the season should be cancelled now i.e. up to and including Thursday 11th June, with the programme for the remainder of the year reviewed on or about 1st June 2020.

Therefore the first fixtures to be played would be on Thursday 18th June so that, if play is possible, half of the season’s fixtures could be completed.

The amended dates for the Lloyd Trophy will be R1 7th July, R2 21st July, R3 4th August, S/F 18th August, and Final 27th August.

You will appreciate that everything depends on the progress of the pandemic and the extent to which it proves possible to mitigate the worst effects.

These are challenging times. Say safe and stay healthy.
